U-13 Soccer DLS U-13 soccer squad went out of the Wexford - Wicklow Cup after a strongly fought battle against Dublin Oak Academy. DLS got off to a poor start conceding a goal on 7 minutes to a strike from the half way line. While the team regrouped and made tireless efforts in the first half, it wasn't till after the Oaks scored for the second time that captain Thomas Kelly put DLS on the score sheet with a well taken goal. The second half saw DLS come out fighting but despite having the majority of possession, could not alter the score line. From William in nets to Dara and Dean up front, everyone played to the final whistle with full commitment and determination. It was an unjustified result in a well-fought game, ending 41 to Dublin Oak. Eamon Wolfe
Handball - An UP and Coming Sport Handball is an ever growing sport in De La Salle College. There isn't a free wall space at break times as keen players demonstrate their skills everywhere. I myself had never played this sport until I entered first year. It is a thoroughly enjoyable activity which demands great skill, fitness and concentration. Even better a virtually unlimited number of people can play. It is very challenging and competitive as the aim of the game is to eliminate your opponents and eventually there can be only one winner. A handball court can be improvised anywhere with a wall but if only the school had its own handball alley! Then we could take the sport to the next level. Charles Howes |
