Music in the school The skill of younger musicians in De La Salle, Wicklow. 1st Year musicians such as Andrew Hayes, Mark McNulty, James Kilgannon, Antonio lemma, Liam Doyle, Niall Deveraux and Julian Palmer join an already established rock music elite. The majority of 1st Year musicians would like to emulate the achievements of elder statesmen like Mark Moriarty, Jason Moran, Colin Deveraux, Andrew McNulty, Shane Doyle, Terry Kavanagh, Danny Waters, Richie Mannion and Mark Devlin to name but a few. Many of these have taken their inspiration from musical geniuses and rock and roll legends such as Thin Lizzy, Metallica, Nirvana, Black Sabbath and many many more. It is great to have a music room where we can practise at lunchtimes, although we would love to have more equipment! At the moment we manage with two guitars, an amp, a drum kit and a keyboard. We greatly appreciate Mr. Dunne's facilitating us with the use of the room and hope to continue to benefit from his expert tutelage in the years to come. Auditions were recently held for a school orchestra, and judging by the enthusiasm and talent of the latest crop of incoming first years, the musical tradition in the school can only expect to get even better. If this continues, the Dela will become famous as the cradle of bands who may well go down in rock and roll history! Remember these names as you may well hear them belting out of your stereo one day in the not too distant future: Ralph, Burial at Sea, Cromanion, Paranoid Primate and 99 Reasons 2 Rock!!!
